DIY: Transforming a thrift store find

Today, after a a trip to the gym and a brisk jog, my fashion juices were flowing.I couldn't waste my short term energy to create something, so I headed to the thrift store - fashion renovation heaven. After hours of searching and contemplating every decision, I bought two shirts, a pair of jeans and an ultra-chic gold chain necklace. One shirt, a light, summery, floral, cap sleeved beauty, required little sprucing up. So I only documented the other, a large, striped, ill-fitting, but full of potential short sleeved number. So here's how I turned the blah tarp into a perfectly seasoned, simple stunner (at least, in my opinion!).

the four items I got from thrifting (the one on the left is our victim)

so, first I cut off that icky black band on the bottom of the top along with a couple more inches to get it to the length I wanted.

next, I hemmed all but a few inches on the bottom front corner

next, i cut out and hemmed a triangle where I left the space

now, remember this black fabric that I removed from the shirt earlier? well i reused it by cutting off just the ends and hemming and sewing them back onto the garment.

voila! finished! :D

add a cargo short and the snazzy necklace i also snagged while thrifting and you have an outfit! Yay!
